carry on baggage

TSA PROHIBITED ITEMS
If you are traveling with an electronic cigarette device (e-cig), these items should be placed in your carry-on baggage and NOT in your checked baggage.  The use of electronic cigarettes on aircraft is prohibited by FAA regulation, and is considered smoking.
KaiserAir, Inc. will accept a maximum of one bag and one personal item of carry-on baggage per passenger. Carry-on baggage must not endanger the safety of the flight or interfere with the safety or comfort of passengers. It is the responsibility of the aircraft crew, under the direction of the Pilot In Command to ensure all carry-on baggage meets the requirements of this section. The Lead Flight Attendant is posted at the top of the boarding stairs during boarding. He/she shall scan carry-on items to ensure they conform to carry-on requirements. Baggage exceeding the size limitations or baggage exceeding the passenger allowance may be taken from the passenger and handled as checked baggage.  NOTE: 1 bag/1personal item limitations do not apply to Federal Air Marshalls.

Carry-on baggage must be inspected to control the size and amount carried on board in accordance with KaiserAir, Inc.'s Carry-on baggage policy.  Items may not exceed (inches) 10x14x24 for the overheads or 8x16x21 for under seat, with a  maximum of 2 pieces.

Carry-on baggage may include, but is not limited to:
  •  Appropriate suitcases
  •  Laptop computers
  •  Briefcases
  •  Tote bags
  •  Food or beverages that will not be consumed onboard (i.e., case of wine or a shopping bag of food items.)
  •  “Presents” or items in shopping bags
  •  Duty free items

The following items are considered to be incidental and may be carried on board the aircraft in addition to the passenger's carry-on baggage:
  •  Handbag or pocketbook
  •  Small amounts of food or beverages that will be consumed onboard
  •  Approved infant or child restraint seat (CRS)
  •  Any device for the disabled i.e., foot or arm rests, controls, etc.

Carry-On Stowage Locations [14CFR §121.589]
Carry-on baggage can be stored under all seats, in the overhead bins and approved stowage compartments (i.e., closet). These locations have the following weight limitations:
  •  Overhead Bin- by placard limitation
  •  Under seat baggage, is limited to 20 lbs.
  •  All passenger seats under which baggage is allowed to be stowed are to be fitted with a means to prevent articles of baggage stowed under it from sliding forward. In addition, each aisle seat is to be fitted with a means to prevent articles of baggage stowed under it from sliding sideways into the aisle under crash impacts. All KAI aircraft must comply with this paragraph.
  •  Baggage, other than articles of loose clothing, may not be placed in an overhead rack unless that rack is equipped with approved restraining devices or doors.

Carry-on baggage may not be stacked. With the exception that lighter items such as coats, hats, pillows, etc., may be stowed on top of heavier items such as suitcases.

Any carry-on baggage that is placed in the overhead bin must be stowed in such a way that the overhead bin doors close without any forced effort and the baggage will not fall out when the overhead bin is opened.

Carry-on items that cannot be properly stowed or those that do not meet placard weight and size dimensions must be relinquished to the Flight Attendant for stowage in the cargo compartment. When an item can not be stowed properly, the passenger will be required to ship the item by an alternate method.

Properly stowed will mean that items stowed underneath a seat should be stowed in such a manner that no part of the bag protrudes beyond the fully upright seat back or causes obstruction to passenger movement to, from, or across the aisle.

Carry-on baggage is not permitted in areas where it might interfere with crew access to emergency equipment or if it blocks passengers' view of required instructional signs.
