PORTABLE ELECTRONIC DEVICES (PED's)
Portable Electronic Devices (PED’s) [14CFR §121.306]
Due to possible interference with communication and navigation systems, it is company policy to prohibit the operation of certain portable electronic devices in the cabin.
Flight Attendants are responsible for ensuring passengers are made aware of federal regulations and company policies regarding the use of portable electronic devices (PEDs) through announcements and during routine cabin checks. If a passenger is operating an unauthorized electronic device at an inappropriate phase of flight, Flight Attendants will request that you terminate operation of the device.
“Small PED’s” (small in size/weighing less than approximately 3 lbs.) are those which can be secured in-hand, in a belt or arm holster, or in a pant pocket. Small PED’s may be secured or stowed in seat back pockets provided they are light weight and do not prohibit the egress of passengers. Laptop computers are NOT considered a small PED.
If a foreign country has adopted a more restrictive rule on PED use, KAI is bound by that regulation while in that country’s airspace.
Prohibited Devices:
Headphones
Passengers are permitted to wear headphones (including noise reduction type headphones) during all phases of flight; however, during taxi, takeoff, and landing the power source (such as CD or MP3 player) to the headphones must turned off.
