Carry-On Baggage

When in doubt, “Leave it Out”


  1. KaiserAir will accept a maximum of one (1) bag and (1) personal item of Carry-On baggage per passenger. 

  2. Carry-On baggage must not endanger the safety of the flight or interfere with the safety or comfort of passengers. 

  3. All Carry-On items will be scanned to ensure they conform to the size and quantity requirements.  Carry-On items may not exceed 10x14x24 inches when being placed in overhead compartments, or 8x16x21 inches when being placed under a seat.  

  4. Baggage exceeding the size limitations or baggage exceeding the passenger allowance may be taken from the passenger and handled as checked baggage.

  5. Carry-On baggage may include, but is not limited to:

    •  Appropriate suitcases 

    •  Laptop computers 

    •  Briefcases 

    •  Tote bags 

    • Electronic Cigarettes 

    •  Food or beverages that will not be consumed onboard (i.e., a case of wine or a shopping bag of food items.) 

    •  Gifts or items in shopping bags 

    •  Duty-free items 

  6. The following items are Incidentals and may be carried on board the aircraft in addition to the passenger's Carry-On baggage: 

    •  Handbag or pocketbook

    •  Small amounts of food or beverages for onboard consumption

    •  Approved infant or child restraint seat (CRS) 

    •  Any device for the disabled i.e., foot or armrests, controls, etc. 

Carry-On Stowage Locations [14CFR §121.589]

  1. Carry-On baggage can be stored under all seats, in the overhead bins, and in approved stowage compartments (i.e., closets.). These locations have the following weight limitations: 

    •  Overhead Bin- by placard limitation 

    •  Under seat baggage, is limited to 20 lbs. 

    •  All passenger seats under which baggage is allowed to be stowed are to be fitted with a means to prevent articles of baggage stowed under it from sliding forward. In addition, each aisle seat is to be fitted with a means to prevent articles of baggage stowed under it from sliding sideways into the aisle under crash impacts.

    •  Baggage, other than articles of loose clothing, may not be placed in an overhead rack unless that rack is equipped with approved restraining devices or doors. 

  2. Carry-on baggage should not be stacked, except for lighter items like coats, hats, and pillows which may be placed on top of heavier items like suitcases.

  3. Any Carry-On baggage that is placed in the overhead bin must be stowed in such a way that the overhead bin doors close without any forced effort and the baggage will not fall out when the overhead bin is opened. 

  4. Carry-on baggage that cannot be properly stowed or those that do not meet placard weight and size dimensions must be relinquished to the Flight Attendant for stowage in the cargo compartment. 

  5. When an item cannot be stowed properly, the passenger will be required to ship the item by an alternate method.  Properly stowed means that items stowed underneath a seat should be placed carefully in such a manner that no part of the bag protrudes beyond the fully upright seat back or causes obstruction to passenger movement to, from, or across the aisle. 

  6. Carry-on baggage is not permitted in areas where it might interfere with crew access to emergency equipment or if it blocks passengers' view of required instructional signs.
